Haggis

Yes. The Glorious 12th. Of November. The start of the haggis season. It lasts only 2 weeks. H. vulgaris are now on the endangered species register and are incredibly rare. The season has to be very limited. The taste of genuine wild haggis is not to be compared with that of the disgusting things in butchers shops. (Artificial. Sheeps stomachs membranes. Stuffed with offal/oatmeal/spices. A travesty.)

Redgirls have to brag and share. Today we caught a real one. They are so FAST. We've never hunted so well. This is definitely our ultimate achievement. Our mum is really proud of us.

Our haggis will now hang to mature until the 25thJanuary. Here is our very favourite video clip of a Burns Night Supper. Ooo. Naughty boy!

All of the biggest landed estates in Scotland are clamouring for our haggis. We'll probably choose Balmoral. We like the sound of The Honourable Redgirls MBE.

Wow!!
Well done Redgirls (I see hunting ability must run in our family lines :-)).

I would LOVE the chance to chase a Haggis.

I do hope your mum is going to share your catch with you on 25th Jan... And i very much like your dress sense ;-)
Dexter

PS Ditto is very jealous of your dresses and wants one

Oops the mere word hunting gets me all excited and I was multi tasking when I read your post earlier...

I now see you have caught a stuffed animal ;-)

Ditto still would like one of your dresses though :-)

Dexter!! O ye of little faith. Trust us. Our haggis was the very real McCoy.They are just so incredidibly RARE that folks tend to be sceptical. But we really really REALLY did catch one.

And no we will NOT be allowed the very merest nibble.

(We are pleased that ditto likes our frocks)

what does dexter mean: its a stuffed animal? has dexter (radio's competition for redgirls btw) never heard of 'wolpertinger'? they are also real. .. for real!

A Wolpertinger!!! I shall keep a close look out for one of those in the fields, but if I spot one I think I will let Dexter go first as he is braver than me :-)

He is friends with the local bullocks and trots up to them and licks their noses... they are quite used to him and seem to quite like him, but I'm keeping my distance.

Hopefully a wolpertinger is a bit smaller than a bullock?

And I love your frocks, my mum is so mean, I have no clothes.

I have just been having a little drool over Charlie in his coat.... ooooh he looks soooo smart :-)

Right. We have decided. To post more often. Because it's really exciting when all our friends come visiting. A bit like a wedding. Or. We suppose. A funeral. Redgirls LOVE having a social life.

Dear Uncle Dec. You can come hunting here ANY time. Mmmmm.

Dear good pal Ditto you were very kind about our scot frocks but you know and we know that they are GROSS. They are now back in mothballs and we desperately hope that they rot. Or get eaten by mice. Red Girls do in fact have some new clothes and will be posting about them soon.

And wow HELLO our urban heroine pretty miz Brisztow Jones.Long time no speak but we regularly visit your blog and for a few jealous moments had wondered if those divine babies might be yours. Nieces and nephews. Phew!! Might one of them join your Apple pad ?? Maybe a puppy could be your wedding present to your mom and Glenn. Redgirls have a part time job as personal shoppers and we think a new viz baby would be the very perfect gift. With a big pink ribbon.

Boring mum wants the laptop back. XXX

Haven't checked in here often enough, especially since haggis season opened! Magic. Well done, Redgirls. I'm wondering whether you encountered the clockwise or anti-clockwise variety of H. vulgaris.

I will need to put up a new post on our blog exploring whether Momo + Jozsi have any ability on the wee beasties. They'll probably be distracted by the grouse defrosting in the sink right now.

Come visit us, too.

Being from the U.S. my mom had to look up what a haggis is. After doing a little reading I came to realize you got yourselves a real catch there! Congratulations. Hope it tastes good. Maybe some day I'll get to Scotland and be able to give it a try.

Hello Redgirls,

well done on the Haggis hunt.
They are dangerous beasts.
Did you know that the Romans built a big wall just to keep them out of England?

I would like to take this opportunity to pint out that, despite my apparently tardy posting here,I was in fact the first to comment on your brush with the auld enemy, the haggis.
Sadly technical problems intervened and my boss and I have been rather busy since.

However,I do promise to make some more Redgirls time free in my diary.

Diesel.

Diesel!!! We despair. 1 month later and you have not texted us. Or telephoned. Or emailed. Or written. Or sent chocolates. Or flowers. Or invited us out to dinner. Oh ... We miss you. And so do all blogging vizslas. (Is your boss busy)
